Why am I a Speech Language Pathologist?

Headshot.jpg

My brother who is 4 years younger than me, has special needs. We grew up right here in Harlem, but had to travel over 100 city blocks for therapy services. Fast forward over 25 years later, there was still no place in Harlem for children with special needs to go to receive quality speech therapy services. My family was fortunate enough to have caring therapists that worked with our entire family to improve my brother's communication skills. I knew at a young age that I wanted to do all that I can to help children successfully communicate with their loved ones.  I model my therapy practice to involve the entire family in the therapy process whenever possible. It is important that results are seen not only in the therapy space, but at home, in the child's natural environment. That is what sets me apart from other therapy providers. I am only  successful when results are actually heard! Helping children communicate effectively is not a "job" for me, it is my passion!
